# No-show

> A no-show is a guest who books a table but never arrives and never cancels, leaving the restaurant with an empty table and direct lost revenue.

No-show rate is the number of no-show reservations divided by total reservations for a period. For independent restaurants it often runs 10–20% on busy nights.

The most effective countermeasures are automated reminders (WhatsApp/SMS), a deposit or prepayment, a one-tap cancel link, and a waitlist. Reminders alone cut no-shows noticeably because they give the guest an easy way to release the table.

In TablePing every reservation gets a confirmation plus 24-hour and 2-hour reminders, and a cancelled slot can be auto-offered to the next guest on the waitlist.
