# Dwell time

> Dwell time is the average time a guest party spends at the table and is used to set reservation slot length.

If slot length is shorter than real dwell time, tables collide; if too long, capacity is wasted. Typical starting points are 90 minutes for a two-top and 120–150 minutes for larger groups.

The system can tune slot length by table type based on historical data.
